Executive Director Job Description
Listening Wellness Center

Location: Barre, MA (some remote work may be negotiated)
Hours: 25-32 hours
Deadline: October 6, 2023

Position Overview:
Listening Wellness Center is looking for an executive director who is committed to making wholistic healthcare accessible in our rural community. The executive director oversees our strategic and daily operational tasks, and serves as a liaison with our practitioners, yoga teachers, and program instructors. We seek a leader who understands our mission and our community, as well as current trends in nonprofits, and has experience in implementing a successful fundraising plan. Above all, the executive director should be effective in a leadership role that requires autonomy, clear communication skills and decisiveness.

Objectives of this role

  • Oversee daily operations, providing direction for program strategies and efficiencies
  • Cultivate a work culture that attracts and retains staff and renters while driving the organization’s mission
  • Increase awareness of the organization by being a spokesperson and liaison with local media, social media and community organizations.
  • Develop an actionable plan for fundraising and managing monthly cash flow

Responsibilities

  • Create program plans and yearly budgets in collaboration with board of directors
  • Meet annual fundraising goals, in partnership with board of directors
  • Oversee external communications, including website, newsletters, and social media
  • Manage finances and daily bookkeeping
  • Facilitate space rental for practitioners and instructors
  • Organize and develop programming in collaboration with teachers, staff, and board
  • Oversee maintenance of historic building and grounds
  • Manage office: phone, email, mail; insurance; lease agreements; database updates
  • Serve as the face of the organization and participate in external events to increase visibility and develop partnerships to increase community awareness
  • Maintain a collaborative and diverse group of practitioners and instructors that are dedicated to fulfilling the organization’s mission through successful programs, modalities, community engagement, and fundraising

Skills and qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in leadership role, preferably with nonprofits
  • Strong experience in public relations, marketing, and fundraising
  • Proven success working with a board of directors and community partners
  • Experience with group facilitation and conflict mediation
  • Passionate leader who enjoys being the public face of an organization
  • Experience in creating and managing budgets and databases
  • Strong tech skills including Google Workspace
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills

Ideal candidate may also have experience with:

  • Quickbooks or relevant bookkeeping programs
  • Basic skills with website maintenance with WordPress or similar
  • Salesforce or similar CRM management

Compensation:
Rate: Starting at $24-28 / hour depending on experience

Listening Wellness Center’s Mission Statement: Our mission is to promote access to wholistic health and wellness for Central Massachusetts communities. Listening works to achieve this mission by providing space for and creating a community of independent complementary care providers; offering programs for community members of all ages and abilities; collaborating and networking with others to connect people to programs, resources and practitioners.

Listening is a nonprofit that has provided space to practitioners in a range of modalities, including massage, acupuncture, and mental health counseling for over 20 years. In addition, we offer movement classes such as karate, yoga, and dance, as well as special programs for seniors, children, and teens.
